SMP Correction and Laser Removal — Marlow Rework Specialist

Poorly executed SMP — characterised by blue colour shift, oversized deposits, incorrect hairline positioning, or excessive depth — is correctable through laser fractional removal or specialist rework. Marlow clients seek correction for self-administered and clinic-performed work alike.

Laser SMP Removal: Nd:YAG Protocol

The Nd:YAG 1064nm laser targets carbon-black pigment specifically, making it highly effective for correctly formulated SMP. Full removal of clean carbon SMP typically requires 4–8 sessions spaced 6–8 weeks apart. Laser lightening in preparation for rework typically requires 2–4 sessions.

For organic carbon-based SMP pigment, laser removal achieves near-complete clearance in most cases over 6–8 sessions. Metalite-content pigments (iron oxide, titanium-based) respond unpredictably and may not achieve full clearance — they can also darken paradoxically after initial treatment.
Yes. Correction of SMP completed at another studio is standard practice. We assess the existing work, confirm the pigment type where possible, and plan the correction approach accordingly. We will flag any quality concerns with the original work before committing to a correction plan.
